When was the last time you walked your farm? I mean really walked your farm? If you are like most agents, it’s usually to take your dog for a walk (if you live in the area) or to prospect. But regularly getting out to walk your farm has a lot of benefits you may not even think about.
You may or may not live in your actual farm, and that’s ok. You don’t need to, to get the benefits of actually being out for a walk in your farm. The important thing is that you get out there and just do it!
4 Reasons Why!
In today’s blog, we are going to discuss 4 reasons you should get out and walk your farm.
- Visibility – One of the biggest benefits to getting out in the community is the visibility you can get from it. If you have branded yourself and your business well, you probably have branded clothing and swag. By getting out in the community, people can not only see your branding, but they connect the dots that you are involved and active in the community. By being out at the stores, parks, trails and anything else your community has to offer, you have a much higher chance of being seen.
- Opportunity – If you are out and about in the community on foot, you drastically increase your chances of spotting opportunities. Whether that’s finding new FSBO’s, starting conversations (it’s hard to chat with people if you are always in your car!), noticing coming soon signs, finding distressed properties, coming across garage sales or any other opportunities. There is a lot you won’t see if you aren’t getting out into the community.
- Education – By walking in your farm, you drastically increase your educational opportunities. You’ll be the first to notice new businesses starting up, public notice signs, out of town agents listing in your area, new construction, renovations or any other opportunities to stay ahead of the competition. This can really give you an edge and keep you at the top of your game.
- Exercise – The last opportunity can be one of the best! By staying active, you are not only benefiting your business, you are benefiting your body. I know many agents who make their community walks a part of their regular exercise regimens. If you can kill two birds with one stone, why wouldn’t you? And in this case, you can kill 4 birds with one stone.
Walk Your Farm – Just Do It!
So whatever your reason, if you aren’t out and about in the community, you should be. There are countless other benefits, and I’m sure you can come up with a few on your own. So what are you waiting for? Go get out there! Your health, your farm and your bank account will thank you!
Happy Farming!
