If you’ve ever spent any time learning the fundamentals of marketing, you probably know that one of the keys to succeeding is understanding your audience. To fully understand how to market to them effectively and efficiently, you need to understand what motivates them. What scares them. What they desire. What they don’t want.
Many agents understand how important that is, but one thing that we often over look is where is your audience?
You may be saying “Ryan, If I’m farming, I know where my audience is, they live in my farm!”.
And you’d be right, to a point!
But what I mean is, you should be understanding where they spend their time and energy.
What do they do for fun?
Who are they spending time with?
Where are they shopping?
Where are they hanging out outside of home life?
Where are they online?
When you learn to figure out where your audience is congregating, you can learn to market to them more effectively.
I get it, some of you are probably asking how can you do this in your farm? How do you get this information? There are a few ways we can increase our chances of finding out.
You can start by trying out the “3 A’s.” Let’s start with the first…
Ask them!
It’s generally accepted belief that the stronger the relationships you build in your farm, the more you will get to know your audience. But the opposite is true as well. How do you build stronger relationships? By getting to know them. Get to know them and the relationships grow.
You get to know them by asking about them about themselves.
You can do this in the form or surveys, quizzes, social media questions, directly asking them, market research or any other ways you can think of that will put you in contact with them to get to know more about them.
When you learn more about your audience you will gain a lot more insight into where they are spending time, energy, and resources. This will help you further your marketing efforts and build stronger relationships.
Analytics
Using analytics is a little more technically challenging for some agents, but the great thing is that you can use a plethora of marketing tools, AI and analytic software that’s already been developed to do a deeper dive into your audience’s behaviors and actions.
The right data can help you save a ton of money in your marketing, convert more leads and make you an all-around better marketer.
If you haven’t gone down this road before, you may be in for a shock at what kind of insights you can gain when using analytics in your business.
Associations
Most people associate with others outside of their home. By focusing on associations your audience may be part of, you can get a better idea of where they are spending their time and resources.
Are they part of the P.T.A.?
Are they involved in sports teams with their children?
Are they part of any clubs or organizations?
Are they involved in local politics?
Are they part of any local causes?
Are they involved in any religious organizations?
These types of associations can help you get in front of your audience and build a more robust marketing plan to reach your audience in a more robust way. The more we can connect with them, the stronger the relationships can be.
Conclusion
There are many ways you can find out where your farm is spending their time and energy, but the 3 A’s are a great place to start. It will not only help you get better at your marketing, but it will also help you strengthen your relationships in your farm, and at the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
So what are you going to do to dive in deeper and get to know your farm better? Your bottom line will thank you!
Happy Farming!
